Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re storing cigars, cannabis, or other premium goods, this FAQ covers how to use Humidot™, how it works, and how to get the most accurate freshness readings.

Q: What is Humidot™?
Humidot™ is a safe, cobalt-free and halogen-free humidity indicator dot that shows if your cannabis or cigars are in the Fresh Zone or starting to dry out.

Q: Is Humidot™ a humidity pack?
No. Humidot™ does not add or remove moisture. It is a monitoring tool that instantly shows when your product is Fresh or Drying Out.

Q: Why cobalt-free and halogen-free?
Traditional humidity cards often use cobalt chloride, which is toxic. Humidot™ is designed without cobalt or halogens for safer use around premium products.

Q: How do I use it?
Open the sachet, keep Humidot™ in the sachet, place inside your jar, pouch, or travel humidor, and check the color whenever you want to confirm freshness.

Q: What do the colors mean?
Green = Fresh
Yellow = Drying Out

Q: What humidity levels are recommended and why?
Cannabis and cigars each have their own ideal storage ranges:

  • Cannabis is best stored between 55–65% RH, with many experts preferring 58–62%. This range preserves terpenes, aroma, and potency while avoiding mold. Humidot™ is set at 50% RH so you know the moment your flower is drying out, which can quickly lead to harsh smoke, loss of flavor, and a weak experience.

  • Cigars are best stored between 65–72% RH, with 68–70% being the sweet spot. This keeps the wrapper supple, the flavor balanced, and the burn consistent. Humidot™ is set at 60% RH so you know the moment your humidor is drying out, which can cause a bitter taste and cracked wrappers.

Always choose the version designed for your product to ensure accurate monitoring.

Q: How quickly does it respond?
The dot changes  as humidity levels shift.

Q: How long does it last?
Unopened sachets stay good for roughly 12 months, depending on storage environment. Once in use, we recommend replacing each dot about once a month for best accuracy and product protection.

Q: Is it reusable?
Yes. Humidot™ is reversible and will change back and forth as humidity levels shift. However, for the most reliable signal and protection of your products, it should be replaced every 2-4 weeks.

Q: Where should I use Humidot™?
Humidot™ humidity indicators are ideal for smaller spaces such as jars, pouches, or travel humidors. For large humidors or long-term storage, we recommend using a calibrated hygrometer alongside proper humidity packs.

Q: Can it be used in hot or humid climates?
Yes. Humidot™ measures relative humidity inside your storage environment, not the outside weather.

Q: Will it prevent mold or drying?
No. Humidot™ is a monitoring tool. Use it alongside humidity packs or proper storage methods to manage moisture.

Q: Is Humidot™ made with safe materials?
Yes. Humidot™ is completely cobalt-free and halogen-free, making it safe for use around cigars, cannabis, and other premium stored goods.

Q: What makes Humidot™ different from other humidity cards or packs?
A: Humidot™ is cobalt-free, halogen-free, and designed as a monitoring tool, not a humidity regulator. It’s safe for cigars, cannabis, and premium storage,  giving you instant, visual freshness confirmation at a glance.
